Wuling’s cheapest EV in Indonesia is no longer the Air EV. On 29 July 2026, Wuling launched the four-door Aira EV at GIIAS 2026 from Rp 155 million, about Rp 59 million below the Air EV’s Rp 214 million entry price. Sales data published on 20 October 2026 shows buyers have noticed.
Indonesian wholesale figures for September, reported by Kumparan, put the Aira EV fourth among all EVs at 855 units, up 13.4% from August’s 754. The older Air EV managed only 420 wholesale units across January to September. Wuling says Aira orders have passed 5,400. For Indian readers this matters too, because the Air EV is the car sold here as the MG Comet EV.
Autoakhbar Quick Verdict
Who should buy the Air EV: Indonesian buyers who want the fuller cabin and 300 km battery, and are happy to pay for the Pro trim (10.25-inch screen, ESC, two airbags).
Who should skip it: Anyone shopping mainly on price. The Aira EV now covers the same job for far less, and the Air EV’s Lite trims carry only a driver airbag and no ESC.
Biggest compromise: Its own sibling. A like-for-like Aira costs roughly a quarter less.
Value rating: 6/10. A proven small EV that is now expensive inside its own family.
Note: Autoakhbar has not driven either car. Everything below comes from official Wuling pages, press releases and published sales data, linked at the end.

What Is the Wuling Air EV?
The Air EV is a city car from SAIC-GM-Wuling, built on the company’s GSEV small-EV platform. According to Wikipedia, it was first shown in Indonesia on 1 June 2022 and debuted in China two days later. Indonesian cars are assembled from kits at Wuling’s Cikarang plant. A rebadged version reached India in April 2023 as the MG Comet EV, and the car was also used as an operational vehicle at the 2022 G20 summit in Bali.
Its fortunes have shifted since. Wikipedia’s sales table shows Indonesian sales falling from 8,053 in 2022 to 3,894 in 2025, while China dropped from 7,597 in 2023 to just 11 in 2025. India, through the Comet, was the bright spot with 10,442 units in 2025.

Wuling Air EV Price in Indonesia (October 2026)
The official New Air ev page lists three trims, with prices valid from 1 January 2026 for Jakarta. Moladin’s October 2026 price list shows the same Rp 214 to 307 million range.
| Trim | Price (Jakarta) | Battery / claimed range | Key kit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lite Standard Range | Rp 214 million | 17.3 kWh / up to 200 km | Driver airbag, no ESC, 7-inch cluster |
| Lite Long Range | Rp 251 million | 26.7 kWh / up to 300 km | Same safety kit as Standard |
| Pro Long Range | Rp 307 million | 26.7 kWh / up to 300 km | Two airbags, ESC, rear camera, 10.25-inch screen, dual-tone paint |
All trims use a 30 kW, 110 Nm motor, 12-inch wheels and seat four in a 2,974 mm body.

Air EV vs Aira EV vs MG Comet EV
The Aira EV is a separate, newer model, not a facelift of the Air EV. Wuling’s marketing director told GridOto the Air EV stays the better-equipped choice with higher-quality materials, while the Aira focuses on essentials. Paul Tan’s Automotive News reports the Aira as based on the 2026 Hongguang Mini EV update.
| Parameter | Wuling Air EV | Wuling Aira EV | MG Comet EV (India) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Rp 214-307 million | Rp 155-175 million (OTR Jakarta) | About Rs 7.8-10.07 lakh ex-showroom |
| Doors / length | 3-door, 2,974 mm | 4-door, 3,268 mm | 3-door, same body as Air EV |
| Battery and claimed range | 17.3 kWh / 200 km; 26.7 kWh / 300 km | 16.2 kWh / 205 km; 25.1 kWh / 301 km (CLTC) | 17.3 kWh / 230 km (ARAI) |
| Motor | 30 kW, 110 Nm | 30 kW, 85 Nm, top speed 101 km/h | 42 bhp, 110 Nm |
| Fast charging | AC home charging | DC 30-80% in about 35 minutes | AC only: 3.3 kW, or 7.4 kW on FC trims |
Range figures are not directly comparable. CLTC is a lenient Chinese test cycle, ARAI is India’s, and real-world numbers will be lower than either.
Latest Updates: What Changed in 2026
- 29 July: The Aira EV launched at GIIAS 2026 in Standard Range (Rp 155 million) and Long Range (Rp 175 million) versions.
- GIIAS results: Wuling took 3,290 orders at the show, and the Aira accounted for 2,238, about 68%, according to CleanTechnica. The Long Range version took 2,073 of them.
- 13 August: Wuling said the Aira had passed 3,500 orders in two weeks.
- 20 October: September data shows Aira wholesale of 855 units, 2,330 for January to September, and 2,082 retail deliveries from July to September.
The Deal-Breakers
1. Safety kit on the cheaper trims. Both Air EV Lite trims have a single driver airbag and no stability control. The Aira Standard Range has two airbags but also lacks ESC, a rear camera and the smartphone-linked screen; those arrive on the Long Range.
2. The price gap. Rp 214 million buys an Air EV Lite with 200 km claimed range. Rp 155 million buys an Aira with 205 km. That gap is hard to defend.
3. Range claims. Treat 200, 205, 300 and 301 km as lab numbers, not weekly-commute numbers.
Variants and Value Pick
For most Indonesian buyers the Aira EV Long Range at Rp 175 million is the sensible pick: 301 km claimed, DC fast charging, ESC and a rear camera. The Air EV Pro only makes sense if you specifically want its nicer cabin, bigger screen and dual-tone finish and can accept a Rp 307 million price.
The India Angle: MG Comet EV
India does not get the Wuling badge. It gets the Comet, the long-wheelbase Air EV with a 17.3 kWh pack. Current listings put it at roughly Rs 7.8 lakh to Rs 10.07 lakh ex-showroom. MG’s battery rental option has been listed from Rs 4.99 lakh plus Rs 3.2 per km. Prices vary by city, so confirm with a dealer.
We found no announcement of the Aira EV for India. The more immediate threat is the VinFast VF3, which reports say is headed for an October to November 2026 launch, though the date and price are unconfirmed.

Autoakhbar Bottom Line
The Air EV proved that a tiny, cheap LFP-battery EV can sell in emerging markets. Four years on, Wuling’s own Aira EV is the better buy in Indonesia, and the Air EV is the more premium alternative. In India, the Comet stays the segment benchmark until the VF3 arrives.

Is the Wuling Air EV the same as the MG Comet EV?
Yes, essentially. The Comet is a rebadged long-wheelbase Air EV built in India, with local pricing and trims.

No. The Aira is a newer four-door car that is longer and cheaper, with a slightly different battery and motor tune.
How much does the Wuling Air EV cost?
In Jakarta it ranges from Rp 214 million to Rp 307 million, depending on trim.
What is the Air EV’s real-world range?
