BYD's Yangwang sub-brand built the U9 Xtreme to do one thing: prove an electric car can out-run anything with a fuel tank. It worked — a 496.22 km/h top speed run in Germany knocked the six-year-old Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ record off its perch, and a 6:59.157 Nürburgring lap made it the first EV hypercar under seven minutes. Only 30 will ever be built.
