Rivian R2 specs have been revealed and the debate has started: $41K Tesla Model Y vs expected $55K–$57K Rivian R2 — which one is better in this price range? Yes, we will answer that, but before that let’s understand everything.
If an EV launches and there is no noise around it, that is difficult. Right now it is being understood that EVs are the future, and anyway we do not have a better sustainable option than EVs.
I checked many debates and the audience seems divided into two parts: one group says Tesla is better and the other says the comparison itself is wrong.

Look, I do not believe that Rivian R2 is any threat to Tesla. Tesla’s real competition could be BYD. Because Tesla relies on its software technology… its tech, battery, self-driving and charging infrastructure will not let it feel threatened so easily.
Believe me or not but:
Rivian R2 may not directly replace Tesla buyers but could create its own EV niche.
India Perspective – Can Rivian Come to India?
It is difficult for Rivian to come to India right now. At the moment there are many EVs in India, but among foreign brands BYD is dominating, and among Indian brands Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are building EV SUVs which would actually be Rivian’s competition.
But if we talk about a premium product then that would be Rivian.
And if we look at the history of the Indian automobile market, India is a price-sensitive market, which is why premium EV brands face challenges when entering.
So I do not think Rivian is planning to come to India right now.
